E-Space: satellite internet operator authorized in Brazil

Operator E-Space is ready to operate its satellite internet service in Brazilwith the authorization published by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) last Wednesday (11). The release was granted after the payment of the first installment of the license, in the amount of R$ 20 thousand, according to the Telesynthesis.

The decision states that the company registered in Rwanda The Semaphore constellation should begin operating within two yearsunder the risk of losing the license in the national territory. The request was initiated in July last year, being the subject of public consultation due to the frequencies used.

The service, which will be operated locally through the company E-Space Brazil Holdings, will be able to use up to 8,640 low-orbit satellites. With this, the company will have the largest project of its kind in operation in the national territory, since Starlink is authorized to use a maximum of 4,400 satellites at the moment.

According to E-Space, its constellation is made up of small-sized equipment, with ability to withstand collisions and collect debris left by others in the same band of Earth's orbit. The operator did not disclose the exact number of satellites currently operating – three were launched in 2022, for demonstrations of the technology last year.

Focus on connection for IoT devices

Although it has the authorization to use a larger constellation than Elon Musk's company, E-Space brings equipment with less capacity. The Semaphore satellites use the UHF/VHF frequencies from 340 to 370 MHz (uplink) and from 267 to 297 MHz (downlink).

The focus of the operation is to offer connection for Internet of Things (IoT) devices, but the company says it also serves other types of applications with low data consumption. In addition, the technology can be used in voice calls and video transmission.

Created by Greg Wyler, responsible for founding the operators OneWeb and O3B Networks, E-Space has plans to launch at least 100,000 satellites in the futureoffering satellite internet worldwide.

1. Lab-Replicated Martian Spiders

One of the phenomena Most intriguing on Mars are the formations known as “spiders” (or “araneiformes”). They were first discovered in 2003 through images captured by orbiting probes. The formations appear mainly in the southern hemisphere of Mars and have puzzled scientists for decades.

These structures are formed when carbon dioxide ice sublimates directly into gas in the Martian spring, creating fissures in the surface and sending up jets of dust and sand that form the characteristic web-like formations.

This month, NASA scientists were able to recreate these spiders in the lab for the first time using the DUSTIE system at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). The scientists simulated the low-pressure, extremely cold temperatures found in the polar regions of Mars, and by heating simulated Martian soil covered in CO2 ice, the researchers were able to replicate the gas jets and spiral formations that resemble those seen on Mars.

This experiment not only validates the spider formation model, but may also provide valuable information for future missions to Mars. Better understanding these geological processes helps refine landing sites and the tools needed to study the Martian surface more effectively.

2. The beautiful Serpent Nebula

Stunning images of Serpent Nebula captured by the James Webb Space Telescope revisits a fascinating discovery: For the first time, astronomers have observed aligned gas streams from forming stars, confirming long-held theories about star formation.

These gas streams, known as bipolar jets, are ejected by newborn stars and collide with the surrounding gas, creating visible plumes of molecular hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The alignment of these streams indicates that during the formation process, the stars rotate in a common direction, which is consistent with the rotation of the gas clouds that collapse to form these stars.

This discovery helps to better understand the dynamics of the birth of young stars, in addition to offer a glimpse of regions that were previously invisible to optical telescopes due to the dense surrounding dust.

3. The Andromeda Galaxy Revisited

The Hubble Space Telescope has captured a new, detailed image of the Andromeda Galaxy, one of our closest galactic neighborss. The galaxy, located about 2.5 million light-years from Earth, has been re-presented in a beautiful image that highlights the vast regions of ionized gas that fuel the formation of new stars.

Studies of this type are essential to understanding how galaxies evolve over time, as well as providing a new glimpse of the object that will mark the future of the Milky Way, since these galaxies are on a collision course, predicted to happen over the next 6 to 10 billion years.

Honor may launch a three-folding smartphone with a thickness of 10 millimeters

Honor may launch a three-folding smartphone with a thickness of 10 millimeters

After Huawei announced the Mate XT as the first smartphone that folds into three parts, Honor seems to want a piece of that market. According to speculation from tipster Teme via X (Former Twitter), Honor is working on a phone with two hinges measuring just 10 mm.

Developing a product with so many folds is no easy feat, but making a smartphone that’s just 1 centimeter thick when closed is a notable milestone. For comparison, the Huawei Mate XT is 12.8 mm thick when folded, while the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 12.1 mm thick.

Teme did not reveal any additional specifications about Honor's possible foldable. However, considering that the company announced the Magic V3 in recent days, which holds the title of the world's thinnest foldable at 9.2mm, it is no surprise to see the company with such an ambitious project.

Wi-Fi 7: is it worth investing in this technology?

Wi-Fi 7: is it worth investing in this technology?

Wi-Fi 7 is coming in 2024 to change the way we connect to the internet. Officially launched at CES 2024, the new generation of wireless networks promises to be the perfect solution for those looking for more speed and a connection without crashes.

If you use the internet to watch high-resolution videos, play games, or connect multiple devices at home or work, Wi-Fi 7 could be the next step.

But is it worth it? Let’s find out everything about this technology and how it can improve your online experience. Just read on!

What does Wi-Fi 7 mean?

Wi-Fi 7 is the new generation of wireless networks that will replace previous standards, such as Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax) and Wi-Fi 6E (IEEE 802.11ac). With its technical name IEEE 802.11be, the new standard promises to bring major improvements in terms of speed and efficiency.

The main advantage of Wi-Fi 7 is its ability to provide faster and more stable connections, making it ideal for scenarios with intensive use of connected devices.

However, to take advantage of this technology, you need to have a router and devices compatible with Wi-Fi 7 — which is still not so easy to find on the current market!

What are the advantages of Wi-Fi 7?

At the moment, the 7th generation of Wi-Fi is considered by experts to be the most modern Wi-Fi in the world. The technology will support the frequencies of previous versions and deliver greater quality in the following aspects:

Grouped connections between bands

One of the great advantages of Wi-Fi 7 is the ability to group different frequency bands to optimize the connection. As with Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E, it uses the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, but with the addition of the 6 GHz band, exclusive to compatible devices.

With multilink operation (MLO technology), Wi-Fi 7 allows devices connect simultaneously to different frequencies and channelsensuring a more stable and high-speed connection, even in congested environments.

This brings a smoother experience for bandwidth-hungry applications like 8K streaming and online gaming.

Wi-Fi 7 Speed

Wi-Fi 7 represents a huge leap forward in speed compared to its predecessors. The new technology is designed to support bandwidth of up to 320 MHz, double what was possible with Wi-Fi 6.

The expansion allows for greater data transmission capacity, resulting in significantly faster download speeds. Specifically, Wi-Fi 7 can reach a maximum rated speed of up to 46 Gb/s – according to TP-Link.

Another innovation is quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), which is a technique used to transmit data over radio waves. Wi-Fi 7 uses 4096-QAM, which is four times more efficient than Wi-Fi 6's 1024-QAM e o 256-QAM do Wi-Fi 5.

Therefore, Wi-Fi 7 can carry much more information at once, increasing the overall speed of the network. These improvements translate into a much faster internet experience.

With Wi-Fi 7, for example, you can expect wireless data transfers of more than 2 GB per second, making heavy downloads easier and improving the performance of bandwidth-hungry applications like virtual reality (VR).

Lower latency

Wi-Fi 7 offers reduced latency, a crucial factor for internet performance in activities that require fast responses.

This benefit is particularly notable in online games, where the speed of communication between the server and the device can directly impact gameplay and competitiveness, in high-definition video conferences and other remote collaboration solutions.

Greater reach

Another improvement of Wi-Fi 7 is the increase in connection range. Compared to its previous versions, the Wi-Fi 7 is designed to cover a wider area e provide a stable connection in different environments.

You can enjoy more robust and reliable internet coverage throughout your home, office, and crowded locations like airports and shopping malls, even in areas that previously had weak or spotty signal.

Greater security

Wi-Fi 7 also improves the security of wireless networks by adopting the WPA3 encryption standard. This standard is superior to WPA2, which was used by Wi-Fi 5 and its predecessors.

O WPA3, ou Wi-Fi Protected Access 3, implementa more robust encryption protocols and offers stronger authentication, ensuring that your data and connections are more secure against intrusions and unauthorized access.

Competitiveness with 5G networks

Like 5G networks, Wi-Fi 7 has the potential to bring technological advances that promise to transform the online connections scenario in the world.

According to Eduardo Neger, director of the Brazilian Internet Association (Abranet), Wi-Fi 7 uses a new frequency band that enables impressive speeds, reaching up to 5 Gbps, thus surpassing the performance of 5G networks in terms of connection speed (via SBT).

The new technology also paves the way for smooth integration with 5G networks. The new technology also paves the way for smooth integration with 5G networks.Source: GettyImages

In Brazil, its implementation is seen by Abranet as a strategy to create a more efficient and flexible telecommunications infrastructureespecially with the recent release of the 1200 MHz band in the 6 GHz band by Anatel.

Best performance in the corporate scenario

Hélio Nobre, COO of SecureLink, highlights that one of the main benefits of Wi-Fi 7 is its ability to support a greater number of devices connected at the same time, without compromising connection quality.

“This is particularly relevant, above all, in offices that increasingly have IoT (Internet of Things) and Artificial Intelligence-based devices integrated into the IT infrastructure,” explains Nobre.

The Director of Operations also highlights that the use of Wi-Fi 7 can impact the way companies operate, “driving more efficient collaboration between teams distributed in different locations around the world”.

What is the difference between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7?

The main difference between the two generations is speed and efficiency. Wi-Fi 7 can reach speeds of up to 46 gigabits per second (Gbps), which is a huge improvement over Wi-Fi 6, which reaches up to 9.6 Gbps.

To get an idea of the difference, a router Wi-Fi 7 can download a large 15GB file in about 25 secondswhile the same download would take approximately 60 seconds with the best Wi-Fi 6 technology.

Additionally, Wi-Fi 7 is designed to deliver a smoother experience by reducing issues like buffering and lag.

If you are experiencing difficulties with your connection, adopting Wi-Fi 7 could be the solution to improve the quality of your connection and make the most of your online activities with high data demands.

Which devices have Wi-Fi 7?

According to the Wi-Fi Alliance, 2.1 billion Wi-Fi 7-compatible devices are expected to hit the market by 2028. Smartphones, PCs, tablets and access points (APs) will be the first to meet the new demand.

Companies such as TP-Link, Netgear and Eero have already announced Wi-Fi 7 router models. In the telephony sector, the OnePlus 11 5G, Samsung Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15 smartphones can support the seventh generation of wireless networks.

When will Wi-Fi 7 arrive in Brazil?

Wi-Fi 7 will make its debut in Brazil in August 2024, with its implementation at São José do Rio Preto Airport in São Paulo. This is the first location in the country to adopt the new connection standard, signaling the beginning of a new era for wireless networking technology in Brazil.

However, the supply of Wi-Fi 7 compatible products is still limited. The availability of these devices is expected to increase as the market adapts to the new technology.

Is it worth switching to Wi-Fi 7?

In addition to the router offering Wi-Fi 7, the devices that will be connected to it also need to support it. So, many home and office devices will need to be replaced to support the ultra-fast and stable Wi-Fi 7 connection.

This adaptation will require a high investment, as it is still expensive to have all the infrastructure needed to browse the internet and enjoy the Wi-Fi 7 experience.

Our final answer is: While Wi-Fi 7 devices are still new releases, it's worth holding off on waiting until the new standard becomes more accessible — unless you're a business with a large budget!

Spoiler: New Legend of Zelda game leaks ahead of release

Nintendo is one of the companies that most protects its properties from piracy. However, even with strong measures most of the time, the Japanese giant seems to be far from winning this fight. In recent years, it has become a pattern for its main games to leak to Switch emulators well before the scheduled date — and the same has just happened with the new Nintendo Switch. Zelda.

That's right, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdomscheduled to arrive on Nintendo Switch on September 26, had its ROM leaked last Friday (13), according to the channel Nintendo Prime — which confirmed the leak.

In video, the Nintendo Prime stated that he checked a link he had recently received and confirmed that it was the “ROM of Echoes of Wisdom“. The YouTuber, who did not share any of the leaked images of the game, stated that he is not distributing the ROM, as it is “illegal and you can end your career doing so”. He also states that the new Zelda can now be played on emulators.

Nintendo rushes to “put out the fire”

Nintendo is certainly already aware that several scenes from The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom are circulating on social media — and, of course, bringing spoilers to all fans of the franchise around the world.

However, the Japanese giant has already stepped in and is issuing a barrage of takedown notices for videos showing Princess Zelda's first solo adventure about 10 days before the game is officially released.

This is not the first time this has happened.

It is worth remembering that the leak of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is nothing new for Nintendo. The latest game in the saga, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomwas pirated over 1 million times before its May 2023 premiere.

Cobra Core: Intel's new architecture should focus on single-core

Cobra Core: Intel's new architecture should focus on single-core

Intel has been making constant changes to its processor lineup in recent years, and it appears that the blue company is working on a new architecture for the future. Called Cobra Core, the architecture was discovered on the LinkedIn profile of an employee of the company, and should focus on more single-core performance and efficiency.

Few details about Cobra Core are known, but according to the Gamma0Burst miners who discovered the project, this architecture should take a good few years to be released. The main reason is that the technology is still under development and should mark a new step for the company's x86 chips.

In addition to Cobra, Intel is actively working on the Royal Core architecture, scheduled to launch between 2026 and 2027 with Nova Lake processors. The Nova generation is expected to be launched for laptops and desktops, marking the absolute end of hyper-threading technology in Intel products.

Arrow Lake will initiate changes

In fact, this movement will begin this year with the Arrow Lake models, which will possibly launch without hyper-threading. The Arrow Lake models are developed with the Lion Cove architecture, which is also present in the Lunar Lake models for portable and thin devices.

Only with Nova Lake will Intel introduce the Royal Core architecture. The company may then launch models codenamed Beast Lake, with an updated technology. The expectation is that the chips will continue in a modular format using tiles.

With the Royal and Cobra Cores, Intel seems to have a well-defined future, but it will still take a few years until we see processors with these concepts in practice.
