The six years of updates would put the entry-level cell phone at a similar level to the Galaxy S24, which will receive seven system updates.
According to the website, there will be six years of operating system updatesl and six years of security patches. So if the Galaxy A16 5G launches with Android 15, theoretically it would reach Android 21.

It is important to note that, in addition to the information being a rumor, this it's just a promise. Although Samsung has a good track record in maintaining support for its devices, there is no guarantee that the company will maintain updates for so long.
Galaxy A16 5G coming soon
With imminent release, the Galaxy A16 will be one of Samsung's cheapest phones. The device should be revealed first in India, but it shouldn't take long to land in other markets.
The Galaxy A16 5G is expected to have a 6.7-inch display with Full HD+ resolution (1080x2340p), 90Hz refresh rate, and a maximum brightness of 800 nits. To accommodate the front camera, the display is expected to have an Infinity-U cutout.
There will be two variants for the Galaxy A16 5G, one with Exynos 1330 chipset and another with MediaTek Dimensity 6300, varying according to the market. The package is complemented by 4/6/8 GB of RAM with 128/256 GB of storage.
It's an entry-level cell phoneso the body of the device should be made of plastic. Even so, the look follows the same design language as the top of the line, with rear cameras arranged vertically, without a module.
