Users of the Instagram mobile app have come across a strange new feature in recent days. On the screen when posting a new photo to the feed, a mysterious button appeared among the configuration options of the publication.
This is an option called (Meta-only) Internal Post. The Digital Trends website and some users on Reddit recorded the presence of the button, which It's just above the feature for tagging people in a photo and below the text field. to add a post description.
Apparently, the button appeared for iPhone users who updated the app to the Instagram version 349.0.0available from last Monday (16).
When activating the option and trying to post, no effect appears on the photo. In fact, the application displays an error message and the content simply does not publish in your profile.
“You are creating media that will be restricted to Instagram only or Meta only, but you are not considered an employee or test user that may set this flag. Please check your protection and try again,” says the notification received after the attempt.
What is Meta-only?
The appearance of the button appears to have been one-off, as users of Android devices and in some regions did not even have access to the feature.
But the explanation may be much simpler than it seems: apparently, the presence of the mysterious function was a simple internal error. The publishing button actually should be restricted to just a group of developers and Instagram employeesbut ended up being sent to the entire community via an update.
In practice, It may be used for publishing on some experimental feed from the company itself.perhaps to test functions that are in the development phase on Instagram. So far, Meta, which also owns WhatsApp and Facebook, has not yet commented on the case.
