Gmail now has integration with Gemini's AI assistant

Gmail has been adding AI features to help users for a while now, but now it appears that Gemini has been incorporated into the messenger as well. Android Authority managed to activate the feature while Gmail was open, revealing that Gemini now has a sort of near-native integration with the app.

To perform the procedure, users must keep an email open and press the command that activates Gemini on the smartphone. Automatically, the artificial intelligence opens a list of options such as summarizing the content, suggested responses, a list of actions and there is also an area where the user can write or say what they want to be done.

This option appears to be integrated with a new Gemini feature that can “read” the smartphone’s screen and take certain actions. In addition to the Gmail capabilities, this integration allows the assistant to be activated while the user is watching a video on YouTube and the AI can search for answers about the content.

Gemini is getting smarter and smarter

While interesting, Gemini's options are very similar to what the Gmail app already offers natively. However, it's good to know that Google has been improving the assistant's capabilities to be even more useful for users.

In the company's latest presentation, Google revealed that Gemini will gain new types of voices to speak to users, and will give the AI a more explanatory tone. The idea is that this technology will become increasingly responsive over time.

To access AI features in Gmail, users must be a Google Workspace Labs participant or a Google One AI Premium subscriber.
