Updates to iPadOS 18 have been temporarily suspended on the Apple M4-powered iPad Pro. The decision came after reports that the update caused devices to stopped working completely and were replaced.
“We have temporarily removed the update to iPadOS 18 for iPad Pro M4 models while we work to resolve an issue impacting a small number of devices,” Apple said in a statement. MacRumors.
A update does not cause problems on all unitshowever, when this happens, it requires the complete replacement of the device.
“At some point during the update, my iPad turned off and won't turn on again,” reported one user on Reddit. The consumer points out that he took the device to the nearest Apple Store, where Apple professionals confirmed that the device really needed to be replaced.
It is unclear what causes the problem, but the best alternative is to avoid the update for now. There is no release date for iPadOS 18 and the number of iPads affected has not been disclosed.
Apple likely won't take long to implement a fix and restore downloads, especially given the severity of the issue.
