Samsung to launch rollable screen phone in 2025, says website

Samsung may explore a new smartphone format in 2025. According to information from the Asian website The Electhe company will launch a rollable smartphone next year and should stay away from models that fold into three parts.

The change in direction by the South Korean company would be directly related to the arrival of the Huawei Mate XT, the world's first triple-screen smartphone, recently announced by Huawei. This would have caused Samsung to change its strategy and seek a new way to stand out.

The website reports that the launch is scheduled for the second half of 2025 and the device would have a 12.4-inch screen when fully opened. In addition, the model would feature a front camera under the display for selfies. Additional specifications were not revealed.

New trend is approaching

The development of rollable smartphones is not exactly new, as several brands have been working on prototypes for a few years. Samsung itself showed the concept of a 12-inch rollable screen at an event just over a year ago, shown in the image above. In fact, the display should be the same one used in the device.

Companies such as Oppo, Motorola and Tecno are also actively developing products with similar features. Even LG, which no longer operates in the smartphone industry, has shown interest in investing in this still-embryonic market. However, not all technologies developed as prototypes in laboratories end up being transformed into products for the end consumer.

If the rumors are true, Samsung would be taking a huge step forward by launching a rollable smartphone for the first time. Although the supposed launch is still about a year away, it is unlikely that another brand will launch a device of this type before the owner of the Galaxy.

O The Elec also points out that Samsung has stopped producing dummy copies for stores. Among the reasons is a cost-cutting process at the company, which is preparing mass layoffs across the globe.
