Cyberattack gang RansomHub has leaked a database allegedly belonging to the automaker's servers Kawasaki Motors Europe. The company was reportedly the target of ransomware and refused to pay the ransom requested by the group.
In all, were published on forums dark web 487 GB of sensitive data of the brand. The information mainly includes corporate and professional details — including tax statements, dealer details, internal messages exchanged and other documents.
The RansomHub group has been carrying out large-scale hacks in recent months. It was also recently responsible for releasing more than 1TB of data from the Brazilian cooperative Sicoob.
Kawasaki did not pay ransom and reviewed security
Kawasaki itself confirmed the incident, but stated in an official statement that it “was not successful in his objective“. In the note, it says that it isolated the accessed servers to remove suspicious materials and reinforce internal security.
According to the brand, about 90% of the servers were already functional in less than a week and this did not impact internal operations or those in relation to partners.
The release of the data, however, indicates that the group managed to steal the informationdespite not having received the ransom money. According to the website HackReadsome of the documents are dated September 2024, which means that the invasion was recent and affected servers used by the company.
