More than a year after its debut on PS5, Square Enix has finally released Final Fantasy 16 for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store last Tuesday (17). Of course, the arrival of the sequel on the platform means that many modders may already be working on replacing Clive with CJ. Well, as long as the mod in question isn't based on any inappropriate content, then that's fine with producer Naoki Yoshida.
In a recent interview with PC GamerYoshida was asked by a journalist if there were any “particularly silly” mods he would like to see in the Final Fantasy 16 para PC.
“If we said 'it would be great if someone did XYZ,' it might sound like a request, so I'll avoid mentioning specifics here,” Yoshida explained to PC Gamer. “The only thing I will say is that We definitely don't want anything offensive or inappropriateso please don't do or install anything like that.”
Final Fantasy 16 PC release could boost Square Enix's numbers
According to the company's most recent earnings report, Square Enix revealed that earnings numbers Final Fantasy VII Rebirth e Final Fantasy 16 “unfortunately they did not meet the expectations” of the Japanese giant.
Both of these underperforming games were initially PS5 exclusives, so it's possible to theorize that if they had also been released on Xbox Series X|S and PC, Square Enix could certainly have generated some extra revenue from them.
Well, with the arrival of Final Fantasy 16 on Steam and Epic Games Store last Tuesday (17), the game's sales figures could reach new heights — as it has now also been made available to an even larger audience.
